• Basar is primarily a Devi Saraswati Sthalam (Pilgrimage of Devi Saraswati):
- Devi Saraswati abides in Basar as Jnana Saraswati. Many children start their learning ceremony here known as Akshara Abhyasam. Special celebrations are held in this temple during Vasanth Panchami and Sharadiya Navaratri.

• Basar is also a Rishi Sthalam (Place of Rishis):
- Sage Vyasa is said to have stayed here and meditated. Hence the name of the place is "Vasara" which later on became "Basara".
