सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गाल्ये ब्राह्मि माहेश्वरि शुभे ।
वैष्णवि त्र्यम्बके देवि गोदावरि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
त्र्यम्बकस्य जटोद्भूते गौतमस्याघनाशिनि ।
सप्तधा सागरं यान्ति गोदावरि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
Sarvamanggalamaanggaalye Braahmi Maaheshvari Shubhe |
Vaissnnavi Tryambake Devi Godaavari Namostu Te ||
Tryambakasya Jattodbhuute Gautamasyaaghanaashini |
Saptadhaa Saagaram Yaanti Godaavari Namostu Te ||
Meaning:
1: (I Reverentially Bow down to Devi Godavari) Who is the
bestower of
all Happiness and
Felicity; Who is
Brahmi (belonging to Lord Brahma), Who is
Maheshwari (belonging to Lord Maheshwara), and Who is
Auspicious,
2: Who is
Vaishnavi (belonging to Lord Vishnu) and Who is like
three Mothers (bestowing blessings) (due to association with Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara);
Salutations to You, O
Devi Godavari,
3: Who has
arisen from the
Matted Hairs of
Tryambaka (i.e. Lord Shiva), and Who is the
destroyer of the
suffering of
sage Gautama (due to false accusation of Brahmanas of killing a Cow),
4: Who
goes to the
Ocean in
Seven Streams;
Salutations to You, O
Devi Godavari.
