• Sri Muruga marrying Valli: Sri Muruga married Valli in this place and led a peaceful life.
- Events: Sri Muruga led a calm and peaceful life here after vanquishing demon Surapadman and also married Valli in this place.
- Note: The incident of marriage with Valli is celebrated as a ten-day festival here during the Tamil month of Masi. Tiruttani is known as Shanti Puri or the Abode of Peace since Sri Muruga led a calm and peaceful life here after vanquishing demon Surapadman. Since Muruga is in a peaceful mood here, the Sura Samharan festival is not celebrated in this temple during Skanda Shasthi unlike other temples of Muruga. The temple has an elephant in front of the sanctum in place of a peacock.
