Sri Ganesha killing Gana and giving back the Chintamani jewel to sage Kapila: Sri Ganesha killed Gana in a battle and gave back the Chintamani jewel to sage Kapila, when the sage meditated on him to get back the jewel. The Chintamani jewel was taken away by Gana from sage Kapila by force. Sri Ganesha permanently stayed in that place (where the battle took place) as Sri Chintamani Vinayaka. (The legends of Sri Ganesha are mentioned in Ganesha Purana and Mudgala Purana)
