(Aushanasa Purana - Vindhyachala Mahatmya - 22)
•
Meditation: I meditate on
Lord Shiva giving darshan to Yogis after their penance.

•
Yogis performing penance in Vindhyachala: Various Yogis performed penance in Vindhyachala. Some of them are: Gorakshanath, Balanath, Salanath, Chimit, Karpati Bhairav, Matsyendranath, Aghornath and Mahanath. The Yogis once came to Vindhya Kshetra. They bathed in the Kundas, performed Pujas and started meditating. They created a kunda towards the west of Gokarna Kunda. Meditating on their own asanas (seats), they became absorbed in Samadhi.
•
Lord Shiva giving darshan to Yogis: Lord Shiva gave darshan to the Yogis along with Devi Parvati, and told them to ask for boon. The Yogis eulogized Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. They asked the boon that their Rati is engaged in the practice of Yogas with firmness. Lord Shiva granted the boon and said that they will always be engaged in Yoga and will remain outside the pains associated with birth and death. Lord Shiva praised the Aghora mantra repeated by them, and said that they will get 23 types of siddhis. When the Yogis asked for the names and symtoms of the siddhis, Lord Shiva described many of them including the main eight siddhis - Anima, Laghima, Mahima, Prakamya, Ishitva, Vashitva, Garima and Prapti. Lord Shiva also said that the kunda created by them will be the bestower of siddhis.
