Meditation: I meditate on
Lord Shiva giving darshan to Yamaraja after his long penance.

•
Yamaraja performing penance in Vindhyachala: Previously, Suryaputra Yamaraja came to Vindhyachala to perform penance. He created a kunda after his name and established a Shiva Linga. Then with great devotion, he started to perform penance. He performed penance by standing on the toe of his finger. He mostly partook only air, and sometimes during thirst he dipped the tip of a kusha grass in water and partook water. In this way four yugas passed.
•
Lord Shiva giving darshan to Yamaraja: In samadhi, Yamaraja saw Lord Shiva. Then Lord Shiva appeared there to give him boons. Yamaraja in ecstasy recited various Stotras. Lord Shiva bestowed him the position of Dharmaraja to rule over the jivas. The jivas will attain their state according to their karma under the rule of Dharmaraja. Lord Shiva also said that the kunda and Shiva Linga will become famous after his name as Dharma Kunda and Dharmeshwara Linga. Lord Shiva described the merit of taking bath in the kunda and worshipping the Linga.
