Gaya: King Gaya relieving brahmanas from curse:

(Vayu Purana - 112)

• Meditation: I meditate on Lord Adi-Gadadhara abiding in Gaya.

Lord Vishnu

• King Gaya performing Yagna in Gaya: King Gaya performed a Yagna in Gaya. He gave a huge amount of food and gifts in that sacrifice. The brahmanas who were honoured praised saying that no one has performed such an event before and no one will perform this in future.

• Lord Vishnu giving boon and relieving brahmanas from curse: Lord Vishnu was pleased and told the king to ask for a boon. The king asked the boon that the brahmanas who were cursed before (by Lord Brahma) may become sanctified. Also, may the city be named as Gayapuri after his name, and also as Brahmapuri.
