Gayasura offering his body for Yagna
Gayasura offering his body for Yagna
Gaya: Gayasura offering his body for Yagna:
(Vayu Purana - 106)
•
Meditation: I meditate on
Lord Adi-Gadadhara abiding in Gaya.

•
Brahma asking Gayasura for his body to perform a Yagna: After Lord Vishnu gave the boon of great Purity to Gayasura, people who saw and touched Gayasura went to the abode of Hari. The three worlds and the abode of Yama became void. The devas went to Lord Brahma for refuge. Lord Brahma along with the devas went to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu told Lord Brahma to request for the body of Gayasura to perform a Yagna. Lord Brahma and devas went to Gayasura. Lord Brahma told him that he has seen all the Teerthas in the world, but none is as pure as his body (due to the boon of Lord Vishnu). Therefore, let Gayasura offer his body to him to perform a Yagna. Gayasura agreed saying that this body was created by him (i.e. by Lord Brahma) and sanctified by him. Therefore, for the benefit of all, let the sacrifice be performed over it.
•
Gayasura offering body for Yagna: Saying so, Gayasura fell on the ground during the Sweta-Kalpa. He lied on the south-western quarter on the Kolahala mountain.
