Lord Vamana manifesting a Cosmic Form
Bhrigukaccha: Lord Vamana manifesting a Cosmic Form:
(Srimad Bhagavatam - Skanda 8 - 20 to 21)

•
Meditation: I meditate on the
Vamana Avatara of Lord Vishnu.
•
Lord Vamana manifesting a Cosmic Form to measure the land: King Mahabali became ready to grant the three paces of land to Lord Vamana. Due to his integrity, the celestials played music and showered flowers from heaven. Then Lord Vamana expanded His form and manifested a Cosmic Form. The whole Universe was in that form. King Mahabali saw:
- Nether Worlds below His Feet
- Earth in His Foot
- Mountains in His Ankles
- Birds in His Knee
- Wind in His Thigh
- Sandhya in His Garment
- Prajapatis in His Genitals
- Asuras in His Lips
- Sky in His Navel
- Seven Seas in His Abdomen
- Stars in His Chest
- Dharma in His Heart
- Rita and Satya in His Breasts
- Moon in His Mind
- Goddess Sri with Lotus in His Chest
- Vedic Metres and Sounds in His Neck
- Indra and Devas in His Arms
- Quarters in His Ears
- Heaven in His Crown
- Clouds in His Hair
- Air in His Nose
- Sun in His Eyes
- Fire in His Face
- Vedas in His Speech
- Varuna in His Tongue
- Vedic Injunctions in His Eyebrows
- Day and Night in His Eyelids
- Anger in His Forehead
- Greed in His Lips
- Lust in His sense of Touch
- Water in His Semen
- Adharma in His Back
- Yagna in His Strides
- Death in His Shadow
- Maya in His Laughter
- Plants in His Hair
- Rivers in His Blood Vessels
- Rocks in His Nails
- Brahma in His Intellect
- Devas and Rishis in His Senses
King Mahabali saw in this Cosmic Form all things moving and unmoving.
(Srimad Bhagavatam - Skanda 08 - 20)

Lord Vamana taking strides and binding Bali: Lord Vamana then took His steps. With one step He measured the whole Earth. He occupied the Sky with His body. He occupied the quarters by stretching His arms. With the second step, He measured Heaven and all higher Lokas like Maharloka, Janaloka, Tapaloka and reached upto Satyaloka. Lord Brahma and sages of Satyaloka worshipped the Feet of the Lord with flowers. They poured water on His Feet which became the heavenly river Ganga. The Lord withdrew His Cosmic Form by that time. The Devas worshipped Him with various ingredients. The Asura companions of king Bali took up arms to fight Lord Vamana. The attendants of Lord Vishnu like Nanda, Sunanda etc. vanquished them. Bali prevented the Asura companions to fight. Garuda bound Bali with the celestial chord of Varuna. Lord Vamana said that the king had promised to give him three paces of land. But with two paces he had measured all the worlds. There is no place for his third pace. Since the king could not keep his promise, he will indeed go to hell.
