Lord Vamana giving boons to Bali
Bhrigukaccha: Lord Vamana giving boons to Bali:
(Srimad Bhagavatam - Skanda 8 - 22)

•
Meditation: I meditate on the
Vamana Avatara of Lord Vishnu.
•
Lord Vamana giving boons to Bali: However, Bali remained unmoved and steadfast. He told the Lord to keep His third pace over his head. Bali surrendered to the Lord. During that time Prahlada also came there, fell flat on the Feet of the Lord, and experienced horripilation all over his body. Lord Brahma eulogized the Lord. Lord Vamana said that whomever He wishes to bless, He first takes away his wealth and hence his pride and arrogance. If there is a man who is free from pride and arrogance despite wealth and favourable circumstances in life, it should be known that it is due to His grace. Since Bali had remained unmoved and adhered to Truth, the Lord granted the boons that:
- Bali will become the Indra in the age of Manu Savarni
- Till then he will live in the realm of Sutala free from worry. The Lord will personally protect him with Sudarshana there. Bali will be able to feel His presence there. Whatever Asuric tendencies he might contract there due to association with others, will be weakened and obliterated immediately by His presence.
