•
Sri Krishna rescuing Nanda Maharaj from the abode of Varuna: Sri Krishna rescued Nanda Maharaj from the abode of Varuna. Once Nanda Maharaj entered river Yamuna for bathing after fasting on the ekadasi day and worshipping Lord Janardhana. A servant of Varuna deva captured Nanda Maharaj since he entered the river during an inauspicious time. The servant took Nanda Maharaj to the abode of Varuna deva. Not seeing Nanda Maharaj, the cowherd men took refuge of Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna went to the abode of Varuna deva. Varuna deva worshipped Sri Krishna and eulogized Him as the Supreme Godhead, and asked for pardon for inadvertently capturing Nanda Maharaj. Sri Krishna became pleased with Varuna deva and returned with Nanda Maharaj.
