Sri Krishna asking the elders to worship the Govardhana Hill instead of Indra: Sri Krishna asked the elders to worship the Govardhana Hill instead of Indra. Once the elders of Vrindavana were arranging for a sacrifice to please Indra deva to get rains. Sri Krishna told them to stop the sacrifice and instead perform the sacrifice for the Govardhana Hill, and for the benefit of brahmanas and the cows. Sri Krishna told them that the lives of human beings were the result of their karma and Indra has no power to alter it. He also told them that one should pay obeisance to one's real benefactor which in their case was the Govardhana Hill, the brahmanas and the cows. The cowherd men agreed.
