During childhood, one day Sri Krishna and the cowherd boys strayed quite far from Vrindavana. The cowherd boys were hungry and asked Sri Krishna to arrange for food. Sri Krishna told them to go to a sacrificial arena nearby where some brahmanas were performing Angirasa sacrifice to go to heaven, and ask food from them. The cowherd boys asked food from the brahmanas for Sri Krishna and Balarama but the brahmanas did not pay any heed to their request. The cowherd boys returned disappointed. Then Sri Krishna told them to ask food from the wives of the brahmanas. When the cowherd boys went to the wives of the brahmanas and told them about Sri Krishna and Balarama, they eagerly came to see Krishna with several food items, inspite of being forbidden by husbands and relatives. Sri Krishna blessed them for their simple-hearted devotion and told them to chant His names and meditate on Him. The brahmanas later repented for their behaviour.
