Swayambhuva Manu meeting sage Kardama

Bindu Sarovara: Swayambhuva Manu meeting sage Kardama:

(Srimad Bhagavatam - Skanda 3 - 21 to 22)

Bindu Sarovara - Penance of sage KardamaMeditation: I meditate on the Kapila Avatara of Lord Vishnu.

Swayambhuva Manu meeting sage Kardama: As predicted by the Lord, Swayambhuva Manu came to the hermitage of sage Kardama (near Bindu Sarovara) along with his wife Satarupa and daughter Devahuti (sister of Priyavrata and Uttanapada). Swayambhuva Manu was travelling on his chariot all over the world to find a suitable match for his daughter. Sage Kardama cordially welcomed him and extended his hospitality. Then he asked the purpose of his visit. The Manu told him that his daughter has fixed his mind on the sage for his noble qualities and requested the sage to accept her hand. As directed by the Lord previously, sage Kardama accepted Devahuti as his wife under the condition that after she bears the children, he will leave family life and embrace the dharma of paramahamshas. Swayambhuva Manu accepted the condition and left relieved giving a tearful goodbye to his daughter.
