Vidyapati reaching Nila mountain and Sabara Dipika

(Skanda Purana - Purushottama Kshetra Mahatmya - 7)

• Vidyapati reaching Nila mountain: After crossing the Ekamraka forest Vidyapati continued his journey meditating on Lord Vishnu. He reached the Nila mountain which was covered with forests and adorned with Banyan trees. The mountain scraped the sky. It destroys the sins of those who view it.

• Vidyapati climbing the Nila mountain: He climbed the top of the forested mountain but could not locate the path further. He spread darbha grass on the ground, slept there, and meditated on the Lord.

• Vidyapati reaching Sabara Dipika: Then Vidyapati heard some voices behind the mountain discussing about the devotion of the Lord. Following the voices, he reached Sabara Dipika surrounded by the house of Sabaras. The Sabaras were great devotees of Vishnu holding conch, discus and club. Vidyapati approached them with humility. A sabara named Vishwavasu apprached Vidyapati, welcomed him and asked about his purpose. Vidyapati told him about the mission of king Indradyumna and his own eagerness to see the Lord.
