Vindhya Mountain rising in height and blocking path of Sun
Vindhya: Vindhya Mountain rising in height and blocking path of Sun:
(Skanda Purana - Kashi Khanda - 1 to 2)

Meditation: I meditate on Kashi which bestows liberation.
•
Sage Narada meeting Vindhya: Once sage Narada took bath in river Narmada and worshipped Lord Omkareshwara together with Devi Gauri. Then proceeding ahead he saw Vindhya mountain in front of him. Vindhya mountain seeing sage Narada bowed down to him. Sage Narada blessed him. Vindhya mountain offered Arghya to the sage (curd, rice, ghee, wet rice grain, durva grass, gingelly seeds, kusha grass and flowers). During the conversartion, the Vindhya mountain asserted that he is the greatest of all mountains. Seeing his pride, sage Narada said that the leading mountain Meru disparages him. Then Narada left.

Vindhya mountain rising: Hearing the words of sage Narada, the Vindhya mountain became depressed (that he is not considered the greatest of mountains). Then, to compete with Meru mountain, he asserted his power and started rising till he blocked the path of the Sun (which circumambulates mount Meru).

Universe becoming agitated: When the path of the Sun got blocked by the Vindhya mountain, the Sun could not rise. Then all the Yagnas got stopped. The universe became agitated.

Devas seeking refuge of Lord Brahma: The devas sought refuge of Lord Brahma.
•
Lord Brahma telling devas to seek the refuge of sage Agastya: Lord Brahma told the devas to seek the refuge of sage Agastya who was residing in Kashi.
