Siddheshwara and Rishi Teertha
Dwaraka: Siddheshwara and Rishi Teertha:
(Skanda Purana - Dwaraka Mahatmya - 15)
• Kumaras worshipping Lord Shiva: I meditate on the Kumaras (Sanaka etc.) worshipping Lord Shiva in Dwaraka.
• When the Kumaras heard that Lord Brahma was abiding in Dwaraka, they also came there and offered their salutations. Lord Brahma embraced them and said that although they have accomplished the virtues, their understanding is yet to be fully grown. For that they need to worship Lord Shiva. Without worshipping Lord Shiva, Keshava cannot be pleased.
• Hearing this, the Kumaras created a Shiva Linga there. Then they engaged in unwavering vow to create a well there. A well with clean and nectar-like water manifested there. The Kumaras engaged in the worship of Lord Shiva.
• Lord Brahma became pleased and said that since the Shiva Linga was founded (and worshipped) with persistent yoga, it will become known as Siddheshwara. The well will become known as the Rishi Teertha. One can be free from the debts of their forefathers by simply taking bath there.
