Devi Shakambhari
Devi: Devi Shakambhari:
(Devi Mahatmyam - 11)
•
Meditation: I meditate on
Devi Shakambari who provided life-sustaining vegetables and saved the earth from a great drought.

•
Devi providing life-sustaining vegetables during drought: When there will be no rains for hundred years, then propitiated by the munis, I shall incarnate on the earth without being born from a womb. I shall see the munis with hundred eyes, and therefore, I shall be known as
Shatakshi.
During that time, I shall sustain the whole world with life-sustaining vegetables produced from my own body, and therefore, I shall be known as
Shakambhari.
During that same time, I shall slay the great asura named Durgama, and therefore, I shall be known as
Durga.
