Parashurama going to Pushkara to master kavachas

Pushkara: Parashurama going to Pushkara to master kavachas:

(Brahmanda Purana - 32 to 34)

Lord ParashuramaMeditation: I meditate on the Parashurama Avatara of Lord Vishnu.

Parashurama going to Pushkara to master the kavacha: Parashurama then went to Pushkara to master the mantras and the weapons. He stayed there for hundred years. He used to sleep on bare ground, perform sandhya prayers and take bath three times a day. Akritavana used to help him by bringing sacrificial twigs, flowers, kusha grass etc, from the forest. After hundred years, one day an incident happened. When Parashurama was in the Pushkara lake for a bath, a stag and a hind came there chased by a hunter. They fearfully drank the water of the lake. The hunter also came there but seeing Parashurama became afraid and hid himself. The stag and the hind after drinking water felt safe in the presence of Parashurama and conversed among themselves regarding Parashurama (in his hearing distance). The stag said after attaining supersensuous knowledge in the presence of Parashurama, that devotion to Sri Krishna are of three types: Uttama, the highest; Madhyama, the middle and Kanishtha, the lowest. Shiva, Narada, Shuka, Ambarisha, Rantideva, Maruti, Bali, Vibhishana, Prahlada, Gopis etc, had the Uttama devotion. Sages Vasishtha and others and Manu and others had the Madhyama devotion. Others have the Kanishtha ones. Parashurama has only the Madhyama devotion. Unless he acquires the Uttama devotion, he will not master the mantra and kavacha of Krishna (Trailokya Vijaya). Therefore, he should visit sage Agastya and understand the Krishna-Premamrita stotra which accords the Uttama devotion. The stag then recounted his earlier birth and their future.
