(Brahmanda Purana - 47)

•
Meditation: I meditate on the
Parashurama Avatara of Lord Vishnu.
•
Parashurama offering libations with the blood of kings at Kurukshetra: Parashurama captured twelve thousand kings of great splendour who were duly coronated. He took them to the holy place of Kurukshetra which abounds with the penance of sages. There, he dug five lakes and killing the kings filled those lakes with their blood. Then he took bath in those lakes and offered libations to his Pitris. He performed shraddha and other rites following the scriptures. The Pitris were satisfied. The place came to be known as
Samanta Panchaka.
