• Sri Rama assuring protection to the sages: Sri Rama met many sages who performed severe penance in that deep forest (of Dandakaranya). They approached him for protection from demons. Sri Rama vowed to eliminate the demons.

• Devi Sita expressing concern: Devi Sita raised the concern about killing the demons in the forest without enmity. Sri Rama said that the sages have approached him for refuge, and he must abide by his words given to the brahmanas.
