Thirunallur Perumanam - Shivalokath Thyagaraja Temple (Achalapuram)

Lord ShivaMeditation: I meditate on Lord Shivalokath Thyagaraja and Devi Venneetru Umaiyammai at Thirunallur Perumanam.

Greatness: The Shivalokath Thyagaraja Temple of Thirunallur Perumanam is a Paadal Petra Sthalam whose glory was sung by the Nayanmars.

Puranic Events:

1. Lord Shiva & Thirugnana Sambandar: Lord Shiva merged Thirugnana Sambandar and the entire marriage gathering in Shiva Jyoti during the marriage of Thirugnana Sambandar with Mangai Nallal (Sthotra Poornambigai).
- Events: Shivapada Hridayar, the father of Thirugnana Sambandar arranged the marriage of his son with Mangai Nallal (Sthotra Poornambigai), the daughter of Nambandar Nambi of nearby Nallur village. While circumambulating the marriage fire, Thirugnana Sambandar prayed to Lord Shiva to relieve him from marital life. Lord Shiva appeared as a huge fire (Shiva Jyoti) and invited the gathering to merge in it. The marriage gathering was enchanted by the darshan of Lord Shiva and entered the Shiva Jyoti. Devi Parvati distributed Vibhuti as a Prasada to the entire gathering.
- Note: This Sthalam is regarded as a Mukti Sthalam. Along with Thirugnana Sambandar, three others Nayanars attained Samadhi in this place. They are: Thiruneelanakka Nayanar, Thiruneelakanta Yazhpanar and Muruga Nayanar. Since Devi Parvati distributed Vibhuti as a Prasada to the entire gathering, Vibhuti is distributed as Prasadam in the Ambal shrine.

2. Lord Shiva & Sages: Various sages like Vasishtha, Vishwamitra, Parashara, Jamadagni, Kakabhujandar etc. are said to have performed penance here.

Deities:
- Lord Shivalokath Thyagaraja
- Devi Venneetru Umaiyammai (or Vibhuti Nayaki)

- Panchakshara Teertham: The Temple Tank.
