Kashi: Creation of Manikarnika:
(Skanda Purana - Kashi Khanda - 26)

Meditation: I meditate on Kashi which bestows liberation.

Lord Vishnu creating Manikarnika:
1.
Lord Shiva had a desire to create another being who will look after the creation.
Lord Vishnu manifested from his left limb.
2.
Lord Vishnu performed severe penance after digging a pond with his Chakra and filling it with his sweat drops. (
Chakrapushkarini)
3.
Lord Shiva shook his head with serpents seeing the penance of
Lord Vishnu and a Mani fell down from his ear. Therefore,
Chakrapushkarini also became known as Manikarnika.
